Green Tea Ice Cream, Sakura Ice Cream

By Japan Travel - Posted on 24 January 2008

Here are some photos of green tea and sakura ice cream from the cherry blossom festival in Nago, Okinawa.

This is matcha (green tea) ice cream, which was a little bit stronger than the green tea ice cream found in the USA:

Matcha wa amasugiru desu ka?
Ice cream dai suki!
Thank you for sharing the photos :)

抹茶アイスは甘すぎと思ってなかったですけどやっぱり人によるかも知れません。沖縄は行ったことがありますか?

Matcha aisu wa amasugi to omotte nakatta desu kedo yappari hito ni yoru ka mo shiremasen. Okinawa wa itta koto ga arimasu ka?

I didn't think the ice cream was too sweet but it probably depends on the person. Have you been to Okinawa before?

I found this site the other day which had a lot of weird icecream flavours, The Japanese even have fish flavoured ice cream and oz toungue, how would that taste? No thanks.

Yes, I can indeed say "Oishi-sou!".

I have tried green tea ice cream, but I have never had sakura ice cream, and did not even know that it was made. I look forward to the opportunity to try it.

Matcha ice cream is very good. Had it in Osaka and Tokyo. It was in machines similar to what we would see in the states with the chocolate/vanilla/twist. I got one that was pure matcha and one that was a twist of matcha an vanilla. If you haven't eaten matcha before, my advice is get the twist first. That will tone down any bitterness. If you want a little more of a charge, ditch the vanilla and go full matcha. Very good taste. I love it, wife hates it =)
