Aoyama at a glance

Aoyama is an upmarket shopping and entertainment district in northeastern Tokyo. The area's clothing stores, restaurants, and chic boutiques make Aoyama one of the most popular places in Tokyo for young people.

Aoyama means 'blue mountain' in Japanese and is named after Aoyama Tadanari, a samurai retained by the Tokugawa shogunate who lived in the area.

Aoyama can be accessed via three subway stations.

Omote-sando Station
